Review: Hero3 Silver Edition

For those who are serious about capturing the scene, the GoPro Hero3 Silver Edition is the way to go. Not only does it have the same performance as the HD Hero2, it also has built-in WiFi, is 30% smaller, and 25% lighter. This is still considered wearable gear, is mountable, and is waterproof for up to 60 meters. For active individuals, this is the best way to capture the story in beautiful ultra-wide 1080p 30 fps or 720p 60 fps glory. At 10 photos per second, you’re not going to miss any of the action.

Image clarity has never been better! The Hero3 features less distortion with the reduced-distortion aspherical lens. The 1080po Ultra-Wide, Medium, and Narrow Field of views provide a perspective once only visible to the naked eye.

Sound too is important when you’re dealing with capturing video, and the Hero 3 Silver Edition is capable of capturing natural sounds, from voice to music, and even sports if you so desire. In addition to that the GoPro already uses wind-noise reduction which is greatly improved in the Hero 3 Silver Edition. With the Silver Edition you will be able to experience buit-in WiFi compatible with the WiFi remote and the GoPro App. If you choose to purchase the WiFi Remote separately, it is waterproof, wearable, and ready to control up to 50 WiFi enabled GoPro cameras at a single time.

As with previous generations, the Hero 3 Silver Edition is completely compatible with all GoPro mounting accessories, as well as older generation BacPacs. The one thing you will find different is that the Hero 3 cameras feature a new size and shape, meaning they are not compatible with the Hero 2 Housings.

If you’re serious about taking great photos or video on your sporting activities, then you certainly cannot go wrong with this incredible camera. Now would be a great time to start looking at the Hero 3 and potentially add it to your sporting arsenal.
